US President Barack Obama will attend the G20 summit in Los Cabos (Mexico) on June 18-19, RIA Novosti reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet Obama for the first time since the Russian presidential polls. The previous meeting was held in Moscow in 2009.
The main topics for discussions are Afghanistan, Iran and Syria, spokeswoman of the State Department Victoria Nuland said on June 15.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accused Russia of providing Syria with combat helicopters last week to attack peaceful citizens. The State Department admitted being wrong at the end of the week.
Ben Rods, Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting, said on Friday that controversies over Syria hinder Russian-US rapprochement. He added that the two states have common grounds on the Afghan problem.
Putin says that he will discuss the missile defenses at the meeting with Obama.
