The US and Russia still have disagreements on the situation around
Georgia but Moscow and Washington see prospects for preserving
stability in the country, US President Barack Obama said at a
press-conference with Dmitry Medvedev, RIA Novosti reports.
Russia and the USA agreed to strengthen sanctions against North Korea
and Iran. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev hopes that the SNF
agreement will be ratified by the Russian Duma and US Senate in the near future.
The USA and Russia signed the agreement on 8th April in Prague. Obama
scheduled the ratification on May 13th, Medvedev – on May 28th.
According to the agreement, the sides will reduce the total number of
warheads by 1/3 compared with the Moscow agreement of 2002, and reduce the strategic offensive potential twice. The agreement forbids

Moscow and Washington said that the agreement corresponds to current
realities, making relations between the two countries more stable and
predictable.
The sides also discussed the results of Medvedev’s visit to Silicon
Valley and prospects of the work in high technology. Russia has been
trying to become a WTO member since 1993. The head of Wall Street
Journal said that the US promised to help with the issue.
