The new concept of Russian foreign policy which was initiated by the
Russian president will contain the basic principles of Russian
diplomacy, developed in 2000, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov
said on Monday in an interview to the radio station "Voice of Russia".
Lavrov said that the document is aimed at promoting national
interests, particularly stability, the country's security, improvement of the lives of Russian citizens, support for Russian business and Russian
culture.
"The concept also includes our willingness and commitment to developing
our relations with all who are ready for this, on an equal and
mutually-beneficial basis. We are open to any partner," the
head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Lavrov said that these
principles have been the basis of Russian diplomacy for the past 12
years, and will remain so in the new document.
As reported previously by VK, at a meeting with Russian ambassadors and permanent representatives held today in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that Russian diplomats actively develop new
technologies in international relations and promote Russia's national interests more actively.
