The Abkhaz delegation sent a note to the secretariat of discussions in
Geneva on stability and security in Transcaucasia, saying that it is
halting participation in the 12th round of discussions on June 27th.
Abkhazia has doubts about the objectivity of the discussions of the
co-chairs from the UN, the EU and the OSCE and the lack of real
proposals, a representative of the Abkhaz presidential administration
Nadir Batiyev said.
He noted that Abkhaz proposals are ignored and discussion about
non-renewal of war is protracted, ITAR-TASS reports.
Batiyev says that it is normal for all sides to express views, but
mediators should be neutral and have no prejudice. He said that they
want to give time until September to prepare a real and acceptable
document for all sides.
Geneva discussions have been held since October 2008 after the
military conflict between Russia and Georgia. Moscow recognized South
Ossetia's and Abkhazia's independence from Georgia. The work is
carried out by two groups: the first group views security issues, the
second – humanitarian problems. The 11th round of discussions was held
on June 8th.
