The Georgian parliament is packing up to move to Kutaisi. The head of the parliament’s office, David Janiashvili, met the heads of committees, offices and the parliament to discuss the issue, Georgia Online reports.
Maka Gigauri, head of the parliamentary department for PR and information, said that the parliament needs to transport its materials, archives, equipment etc. The time needed for the process is uncertain.
Neither does Gigauri have information on the staff that are moving to Kutaisi. Parliamentary staff were recommdned to move to Kutaisi, but it is voluntary, the official added.
The parliamentary building in Tbilisi has not been sold yet. Part of it has moved to the Partnership Fund headed by Prime Minister Nika Gilauri.
The parliament will start work in Kutaisi after the polls in October this year.
