The disorders in Syria have moved to Aleppo, the second largest city in the country, 355 km north of Damascus. The Syrian National Council said that at least 10 districts of Aleppo, or 50% of the Syrian economic capital, were under its control. State forces have killed dozens of terrorists, many have surrendered to the regime, Syrian TV says.
Syrian helicopters have attacked the eastern areas of Aleppo. Saadally al-Jabiri Square is protected by state tanks.
Operations continue in Hama Province, where militants were attacked in Oleylat. Hirbet-el-Baz and Daurein were cleared of terrorists. The military in Idlib Province surrounded militants in Harime, Erikh and Kfar-Rum. Searches for militants in Hajr-el-Asvad and El-Assali continue. The Sit-Zeynab outskirts were cleared.
Kurdish militants are also fighting for autonomy in Syria.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after a meeting with law enforcers on Thursday that Ankara is concerned about the fact that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and its allies were taking areas in Syria bordering with Turkey under control.
General-Lieutenant Manaf Tlas, son of the former Syrian defense minister, escaped to Saudi Arabia and wants to unite the country. He was the former commander of the 105th elite brigade and friend of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
UN Deputy Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Erve Ladsus said on Thursday that about half of the UN monitoring mission had left Syria.
