Putin becomes head of Kremlin Anti-Corruption Council and Presidential Council on Science and Education

Russian President Vladimir Putin replaced Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev as the head of the Anti-Corruption Council, RIA Novosti reports.

The Anti-Corruption Council was established in May 2008.

Its main task is to prepare proposals for the President of the Russian Federation concerning the development and implementation of state policy in the field of fighting corruption, coordination of activities of federal executive bodies, executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation and local self-governing municipalities on the implementation of state anti-corruption policy, as well as controlling the implementation of activities provided by the national anti-corruption plan.


The Anti-Corruption Council includes such important figures as Minister of Economic Development Andrei Belousov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev and others.

Vladimir Putin has also become head of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.

The deputy head of the council is the former Minister of Education, Andrei Fursenko.
