Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will visit the Volgograd Region and discuss agriculture today, RIA Novosti reports.
10 regions are in a state of emergency due to drought this year. Medvedev will observe barley harvesting.
Vice Premier Arkady Dvorkovich, Agricultural Minister Nikolai Fedorov, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the SFD Vladimir Ustinov, heads of regions, agricultural companies and banks are assisting the prime minister.
Drought was discussed last week. Southern regions have lost 30-80% of their grain harvests. Adjustments to the budget of the Volgograd Region were made. 120 million rubles were granted for electricity and irrigation.
According to a report on 27 July 2012, over 1.9 million tons of grain were milled, at a yield of 17.9 hundredweight per hectare.
