Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the state will take all necessary measures to neutralize the terrorism threat in Syria, RIA Novosti reports.
Davutoglu says that the main threats are the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Al Qaeda. Turkey is aware that the situation in Syria would be more complicated than in Libya and Egypt.
The minister said that formation of a buffer zone is possible if the number of refugees from Syria totals 100,000. There are currently 43,000 refugees in Turkey, including 26 generals and 500 soldiers, 180 of whom are officers.
The Syrian crisis is a serious test for the UN, Davutoglu believes. A clear position taken by the UN could have prevented the crimes of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, he says.
