Turkmenistan has developed a project to save the Aral Sea, Trend reports.
The International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was established in the 1990s by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It became an observer at the UN General Assembly on December 11, 2008.
The Dashoguz Region was unaffected by the ecological catastrophe. The Botendag highlands will be restored on the eastern shore of Lake Sarykamysh. 20,000 hectares of trees will be planted.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the project. Tens of millions of dollars were granted. Turkmenistan plans to fulfil the plan, as stated at the G20 summit of the UN in Brazil.
