Muslims of Russia and other countries of the world today mark the holiday of Eid al-Fitr – one of the most significant religious holidays in Islam. Eid al-Fitr is the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Prayer services are conducted in all mosques of Russia.
The chairman of the Russian Mufti Council, Ravil Gainutdin, urged all Muslims of Russia to pray for peace and stability in multinational Russia and all around the world.
The mufti noted that Islam is a religion of peace, and it requires Muslims to spread peace. “But unfortunately, during Ramadan we have seen bloodshed in many regions. We have seen awful videos from Syria, Iraq, and Bahrain. Muslims shouldn’t kill even a fly during the holy month, but people killed each other there. We pray for peace in the world,” Gainutdin said.
The chairman of the RMC read congratulations from President Vladimir Putin, Premier Dmitry Medvedev and the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sabyanin. The heads of Tatarstan, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, and other constituents of Russia also sent their congratulations to the RMC.
President Putin congratulated the Muslims of Russia on Eid al-Fitr and mentioned the special contribution of Muslim organizations to the development of ethnic-cultural traditions of peoples living in Russia, the press service of the Kremlin reports.
The prime minister of Russia Medvedev wished all Muslims health and prosperity.
