The Turkic Council (TURKKON) summit in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) has been concluded with the signing of a declaration at the Ala-Archa State Residence. Signatures were added by Presidents Almazbek Atambayev (Kyrgyzstan), Nursultan Nazarbayev (Kazakhstan), Abdullah Gul (Turkey), Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and all related ministers, KyrTAG reports.
Abdullah Gul left Bishkek due to health problems.
The sides signed an agreement to make the Turkic Academy international, establish a fund of cultural heritage, a program for cooperation of TURKKON foreign ministries, establishment of a Honour Award of the Turkic World and rule of TURKKON financing.
Kyrgyzstan has passed chairmanship in the organization to Kazakhstan. Baku will host the next summit.
TURKKON Director General Halil Akinchi said that the official flag of the organization was approved. It will consist of the blue background of the Kazakh flag, a crescent from the Turkish flag, a star from the Azerbaijani flag and a sun from the Kyrgyz flag.
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan plan to join the organization as soon as they see its achievements.
TURKKON was initiated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2009. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey are its members. The first summit was held in Alma-Ata in October 2011.
