Syrian President Bashar al-Assad believes that formation of buffer zones in the country is impossible, RIA Novosti reports.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced formation of the zones to suppress Kurdish separatists in earli July. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu confirmed the idea to stop the refugee flow. French President Francois Hollande announced plans to work on formation of the zones two days ago.
The conflict in Syria has been ongoing since March 2011. The UN says that over 17,000 people have died. Syrian authorities say that they face well-armed opposition supported by foreign states. Russia and China fear that foreign intervention in Syria and loss of statehood would escalate the conflict.
