The question of the territories of Ingushetia and Chechnya should
first be considered by working groups instead of opening it up to
public discussion, the representative of the president in the
North Caucasus Alexander Khloponin believes, Interfax reports.
In his view, the question requires calm and detailed consideration.
He noted that this question is brought up once in a while by some NGOs
of unknown origin and "with unknown sources of financing"
"The question of land in the North Caucasus is the most difficult
question. Even a small incorrect step has irreversible consequences that
provoke ethnic conflicts," Khloponin admitted.
Earlier, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov claimed that he has
documents confirming that some Ingush territories belong to Chechnya.
The head of Ingushetia Yunus-bek Yevkurov said in late August that the
only way to keep peace is to stick to the existing borders.
