Al Qaeda offers cease-fire

Al Qaeda has offered western states to sign a cease-fire agreement on the 11th anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. The initiative was proposed by Ayman al-Zawahiri Mohammed, leader of the terrorist organization, RIA Novosti reports.

Al-Zawahiri proposed a 10-year cease-fire. He said that the US and other states should stop interfering in Islamic affairs and release all people accused of contacts with Islamists. In exchange, he will stop attacks on western states, respect their interests and stop provoking them.

Last year, New York Michael Bloomberg proposed engraving the names of victims of the terrorist attack of 2001. Two giant beams of light will be seen 50 km away from Manhattan this year.

Al-Zawahiri confirmed the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, his main assistant killed in early June. White House spokesman Jay Carney called it a major strike on international terrorism. A video was released with a speech of al-Libi in a week.

Al-Zawahiri spent about 14 years in prison for murder of President Anwar Sadat. He took part in the Tahrir Square protests in April. He was pardoned by the military in March 2012. Dozens of other Islamists were released after the fall of President Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Al-Zawahiri was reportedly negotiating with terrorists in Sinai.
