Armenia has ratified the CIS free trade deal. The document got 97 positive votes, 2 negative, 7 MPs abstained, RIA Novosti reports.
Armenian Minister for Economy Tigran Davtyan said that the deal will benefit economy, industry and exports.
Grant Bagratyan of the Armenian National Congress believes that the document will provoke confrontation with Russia in the future, unless Armenia joins the Customs Union.
Vice Speaker of Parliament of the Republic Party Eduard Sharmazanov said that the deal is part of the integration processes essential in the 21st century. It will improve ties with European and CIS partners.
Armenia was the fourth to ratify the document after Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine signed the CIS free trade deal on October 18, 2011. Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan express interest in the deal.
