The Russian base in Kyrgyzstan will be able
to receive strategic aviation in six months after repairs, Russian Defense Minister
Anatoly Serdyukov said on Friday, RIA Novosti reported.
"Technically, we will complete the reconstruction in six months.
So, in theory, the airport will receive our strategic
aircraft in six months, but any actual landing of such technology is a kind of
application that needs to be carefully weighed," he said.
In Kyrgyzstan, Russia has a base for underwater weapons testing in
Karakol, a military communications center in Kara-Balta, a radio-seismic
laboratory in Maily-Suu, and a CSTO airbase in Kant. Russia intends to
unite these four sites under one command.
