Syrian president sees problems with Turkish government

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that there were no problems with the Turkish people, only with the government, RIA Novosti reports.

Turkish-Syrian tensions escalated on October 3 when a Syrian artillery shot killed 5 and injured 11 Turkish citizens in Akcakale. The Turkish parliament extended trans-border military operations on October 4.

The Turkish military brought additional forces to the Syrian border. Turkish Chief of General Staff Nejet Ozel promised harsher counter-fire for Syrian attacks in the future. 25 F-16 fighters were brought to a base in Diyarbakir in Turkey.
