Adem Uzun, leader of the European branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), was detained in France on Saturday. The Paris court ordered his arrest, Trend reports.
Three active functionaries of the PKK branch in Europe were detained as well. They planned to send anti-tank missiles and other weapons worth €1.2 million to the northern part of Iraq.
The Turkish conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party has been ongoing for over 25 years. The PKK demands independence. The conflict has resulted in deaths of over 40,000 people. The UN and the European Union recognize the PKK as a terrorist organization.
