Russian CMA concerned about radicalization

The Central Muslim Administration (CMA) of Russia is concerned about extremists entering authoritative Islamic organizations, it was stated at an CMA session in Ufa, Interfax reports.

Members of the CMA requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to improve cooperation of state structures and traditional Muslim organizations and support them in fighting extremist ideologies.

The CMA will keep their staff unchanged and remain under control of Mufti Talgat Tajiddin. The authors of the document want Putin to meet Tajuddin and two of his main advisors.

The CMA assembly in Ufa formed the Association of Russian Muslims to work with young people and a wide range of publicity to prevent extremism.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was asked to consider reducing gas prices for religious organizations.

The CMA members reminded the Council for the Hajj about lack of quotas for the hajj. Saudi Arabia gives a quota per thousand Muslims.

The Central Muslim Administration of Russia is a centralized religious organization. It operates in Russia (except the North Caucasus), Belarus, Moldova and Latvia.
