Refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia have captured about 30 buildings after taking over the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office.
12 families of refugees from Abkhazia broke into a science center of subtropical cultures and tea industry in Zugdidi. Scientists fear damage to valuable equipment used for soil studies.
The tax office of the Nadzaladevsk District was taken by about 80 families in Tbilisi. Staff of the office requested the law enforcers to protect documents in the building. Minister for Refugees and Settlements David Darakhvelidze blamed the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office and the social protection service for the incidents.
Refugees attempted to break into a former sports school they lived in before its reconstruction started. They were blocked by iron gates.
Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili promised to resolve the problems and believes that the former government had something to do with the protests.
