Moscow marks November 7 with march at Red Square

 

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that the 71st anniversary of the military parade on November 7, 1941, has been marked with a military march on the Red Square.

The mayor called defenders of Moscow a pride and glory of Russia and an example for future generations. Only about a thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War arrived for the parade. 57 of them took part in the legendary parade, 36 were present at the marking.

Russia is also marking the Year of Russian History and the 200th anniversary of the Borodino Battle. A horse rider resembling Mikhail Kutuzov was leading generals and soldiers dressed in uniforms of 1812 on the Red Square.

Mark Ivanikhin, aged 90, ordered the parade to start. Moscow Garrison, cavalry of the Presidential Regiment, Honorary Guard Company, soldiers of the 27th motorized infantry guards of the Defense Ministry and Internal Troops of the Interior Ministry were seen.

Over 60 military vehicles passed the Red Square. They include T-34s, T-38s (T-60s). The vehicles were left for an hour at the Red Square for demonstration.
