Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed restoration of death penalty lifted in 2002, Interfax reports.
He reminded that capital punishments were made in the US, Japan and China. Erdogan expressed surprise that Anders Breivik (Norway) got only 21 years for killing 77 people.
The idea to restore capital punishments was provoked by constant attacks of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. Erdogan wants to reconsider the case of Abdullah Ojalan, a PKK leader who was sentenced to death initially, but was sentenced for life later.
