UN to vote on Palestinian status

The UN general Assembly will vote on granting Palestine status of an observer state of the organization today, although Washington will most likely block the decision.

132 out of 193 states approve the idea. France, Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland want Palestine to become an observer. Israel, Germany and Lithuania are against it.

As an observer, Palestine may file lawsuits to the International Criminal Court, which is what Palestine plans to do if exhumation of Yasser Arafat proves involvement of Israeli intelligence in his death.

President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas has arrived for the General Assembly in New York. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu postponed the meeting with his counterparts of Iran and Azerbaijan to attend the UN session.
