Iran and Pakistan signed a deal at the sixth trilateral meeting with Afghanistan in Tehran to fight drug-trafficking by replacing barbed wire along their border with a wall, RIA Novosti reports.
Javed Ikbal, head of the drug control directorate of Pakistan, said that border control will be enforced before 2014.
A 900-km long wall will be built on the border of Iran and Pakistan. Drugs are transported through Iran from Afghanistan to Europe and through Gulf states. Iran spends $1 billion annually to fight drug-trafficking every year.
