Former head of Adjara department suspected of organizing murders in Moscow

Temur Pataridze, former head of the department for constitutional security of the Interior Ministry of Adjara, has been arrested as a suspect who organized murders in Moscow, Kommersant reports.

Shalva Ramishvili made a documentary stating that Pataridze hired Chechen killers to assassinate criminal authority Vato Kipiani in Moscow. According to the film, the killers were paid $100,000, contacted Kipiani, kidnapped Pataridze’s brother and forced him to tell about the assassination plot, forcing Pataridze to pay $100,000 more.

Vano Merabishvili was the Interior Minister at that time. He is currently the Secretary General of the United National Movement.

The failed murder resembles the murder of Roman Dumbadze, former commander of a Georgian military brigade in Adjara, who was killed in Moscow in May 2012. He supported Adjara head Aslan Abashidze in his struggle against Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
