The Georgian parliament has passed the document on foreign policy. It consists of 14 points:
- it bases on the balance of national interests and international obligations;
- the main goal of state administration is protection of sovereignty and territorial unity;-
- joining the EU and NATO is a priority of foreign policy;
- Georgia shares it responsibility to fight global challenges;
- strengthening democratic institutions will improve international relations, attract investments, neutralize internal tensions and help settle conflicts;
- all conditions needed for reaching an agreement on associated membership of the EU should be fulfilled, cooperation within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy and Eastern Partnership should be realized in four aspects: democracy and human rights, economic integration, harmonization with the EU laws, protection of environment and energy security, relations between people;
- Georgian policy will be focused on making the country a strategic player, attractable with its peacekeeping nature;
- relations with the US, the main ally, will continue according to the Strategic Partnership Charter;
- Georgia will use international mechanisms to improve relations with Russia;
- relations with nations of the North Caucasus will base on good-neighbourhood policy, experience and traditions of cultural cooperation;
- Georgia will improve economic ties with the Caspian Region and Central Asia;
- economic and political relations with Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey will continue development;
- Georgia will activate multilateral diplomatic relations in the UN, OSCE, BSEC and other European structures;
- Georgia will use experience of all diplomats to train new diplomats.
