The decision of the Georgian parliament to declare February 25th the Day of Soviet Occupation is aimed at augmenting anti-Russian tensions, president of the Georgian union in Russia, Mikhail Khubutiya, told Interfax.
He believes that declarations that Georgia was occupied by Soviet forces is baseless, saying that he would use the word "salvation" instead. Khubutiya said that Georgia, its population, had supported the movement and that Sergo Ordzhonikidze and other people had headed the process of aiding Georgia.
He expressed confidence that the decision of the parliament will have repercussions for the current regime in Tbilisi.
