Turkey develops new plan for Cyprus

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has read out the new plan Turkey developed to settle the Cyprus dispute. The UN and all interested sides have been presented with the plan, RIA Novosti reports.

The plan has three alternatives. The first one provides joint development of hydrocarbons by the Greek and Turkish communities under UN monitoring, the second provides formation of a joint committee for development of energy carriers and the third one states further existence of two republics on the island.

Cyprus has been split since 1974. The Cyprus Republic is an EU member. No attempts to settle the problem have succeeded so far.
