193 members of the UN have concluded their ten-day talks on an agreement for regulation of trading weapons in New York. Head of the UN conference for the agreement Peter Woolcott (Australia) said that they failed to reach a consensus, RIA Novosti reports.
He blames Iran, Syria and North Korea for blocking the document. The three states consider it unbalanced, because it allows world exporters (primarily the US) to dictate their conditions.
Russia sees many gaps in the agreement. There are no points on a ban for granting weapons to unauthorized individuals, no points on re-exports, director of the Department for Security and Disarmament at the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Ulyanov says.
