The First South Caucasus Forum ended today in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku. A cooperation agreement during teh Madrid club and the International Nizami Gyandzhevi Centre was signed during the event.
The head of the centre Ismail Serageldin noted that the forum would promote gender equality, religious freedom and ethnic diversity.
Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov said that Azerbijan is going to support such events in future.
According to him, the forum was of great importance from teh point of view of Azerbaijan's worldwide recognition. The event showed that rapid development is being seen in all spheres of social life in Azerbaijan, Ibragimov noted.
Ibrahimov also said that intercultural dialogue and tolerance issues were discussed at the forum.
"Azerbaijan is demonstrating tolerance to the world and for this reason Baku was not chosen by chance. Activities to be undertaken in the future will contribute to the transformation of Baku into a centre of culture and dialogue," Ibragimov is quoted as saying by Trend.
