Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Yekaterinburg to take part in the EU-Russia summit, which begins today with an informal dinner. Besides Putin the dinner will be attended by the heads of the EU delegation, the European Council President, Herman Van Rompuy, and the European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso. The summit will continue on Tuesday, June 4.
The main meeting will be devoted to the situation in Syria. Russia is also ready to discuss other current international issues, including the situation in North Africa and the Middle East, Iran's nuclear program, the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the conflicts in the former Soviet Union, Interfax quotes Yuri Ushakov.
In addition, during the meeting the leaders of Russia and the EU will discuss the world economy, the economic situation of Russia and the European Union, and the activities of the G20, of which Russia currently holds the presidency.
