Syrian army attacks rebel city of Aleppo

The Syrian government's forces started an attack on the rebel city of Aleppo today. The rebels captured the city a year ago.

The international community believes the regime's offensive started to win Aleppo will complicate the process of fiding a peaceful solution to the conflict.

British Foreign Minister William Hague said on Sunday that recent army gains will make it harder to organize peace talks in Geneva, or to ensure that the conference will be a success.

The Daily Star quotes Hague as saying that it was "worrying and depressing" that the so-called Geneva talks were not taking place this month, and repeated his warning that the world must do more to help the people of Syria.
