The European Parliament today has adopted a resolution, in which it expresses concern over the lack of political investigations (in the opinion of the European Union) of crimes in Russia. Murders of Politkovskaya and Magnitsky and the Khodorkovsky case are cited as examples.
With this resolution the European Parliament once again raises a question for the whole of Europe about the need for a "Magnitsky list" prohibiting entry into the European Union and freezing the assets of Russian officials who, according to the European Parliament, were involved in Magnitsky's death and connected to other crimes.
For MEPs it is also important to carry out an independent investigation of the violence on Bolotnaya Square on May 6 last year, which, in their opinion, will adequately verify information on excessive violence against protesters, "Interfax" reports.
