Georgia has no plans to introduce a visa regime with the EU and NATO

The revision of the visa regime of Georgia will not affect the member states of the EU, NATO and a number of other countries, it was announced today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Pandzhikidze.

The statement by the Georgian Foreign Ministry has been made as a comment on reports in the Iranian media about the introduction on July 1 of a visa regime between Georgia and Iran. Pandzhikidze did not specify whether the measure will affect the migration policy of Iran or not.

"The Commission is working on immigration law. It is chaired by the Minister of Justice. A draft law regulating the entry and stay of foreign citizens on the territory of Georgia, will soon be submitted to parliament. The legislative package may be revised, and a visa regime will be ordered with some countries, taking into account the fact that Georgia has unilaterally abolished the visa regime with 120 countries. This will change, but the changes will not affect the EU or NATO, as well as a few other countries,” Maya Pandzhikidze said, according to Trend.
