Evgeniy Satanovskiy: Morsi has no chance of returning to power in Egypt

Last night, the Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was overthrown by the military. The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Egypt Adly Mansour has been appointed the interim president. The president of the Institute for Middle Eastern Studies, Evgeniy Satanovskiy comments on the prospects for revolution and peace in Egypt, as well as the fate of Morsi.

According to him, Egypt has entered a phase of revolutionary instability which could take up to 70 or 80 years. "What will the result be? Will it still be on the map after these events, or not, no one can predict," Satanovskiy said, citing the example of Russia, the fate of which no one could predict neither in 1014, nor in 1917.

The head of the institute said that the fate of Mohammed Morsi is uncertain and unpredictable, although nothing positive awaits him. "What is the fate of all rulers in the Middle East? Maybe he will be executed, maybe he will be put in jail, maybe exiled. Other chances for the man who ruled the country in the Middle East simply do not exist," Satanovskiy explained his idea.

At the same time, if you ask if Morsi eventually could return to power, "if he will be exiled, and then another coup will overthrow the government, and then he will have strong enough sponsors, Saudi, Qatari, if by that time those still exist," stressed Satanovskiy, adding that everyone knows about the fate of Pakistan and Nawaz Sharif. "Is there any chance that this will happen? No, there is no such chance." The director of the Middle East Institute believes Morsi has no chance.
