Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said that his resignation on July 4 was affected by the upcoming elections of the new leader set for September 8. It was cheaper and politically more advantageous for the republic, he said. Yevkurov noted that he would have continued work until expiration of his terms of office in October, if it were not for the campaign for re-election.
The official reminded that he wanted to make Ingushetia a worthy region of Russia. Its GDP totaled 19 billion rubles in 2009 and totals 29 billion rubles today, he clarifies.
The Ingush leader noted that he had talked with President Vladimir Putin the day before and had asked him to order the Ministry for Economy to develop a special project for Ingushetia to overcome its slow progress.
Federal donations to the republic dropped to 9%. Yevkurov predicts that hard work in the next 10 years will allow donations to drop by 60%.
