Abdullah Ocalan, leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) sentenced to life at Imrali, has urged Turkey to fulfill its promises, RIA Novosti cites his brother Mehmet Ocalan.
The health condition of 64-year-old Abdullah Ocalan got worse. His family demands independent doctors to be allowed to examine the convict.
PKK started its struggle in 1984. About 40000 people have been killed in the conflict with the Turkish government. The US and EU consider it a terrorist organization. Ocalan was kidnapped by Kenya and taken to Turkey in 1999. Ocalan ordered the PKK to leave Turkey in October 2012 in exchange for reforms, stability and social reconciliation.
