A group of specialists of the expert council of the Russian Ministry of Regional Development has started studying investment into infrastructure facilities for establishing a world-class ski resort in Adygeya, called ‘Lagonaki’, the press-service of the president of Adygeya reported.
The working group will collect all the necessary information about the infrastructure facilities and present the location for the resort. The location is very similar to the ‘Oshten’ ski complex, which will be open for tourists day and night, the chairman of the committee of Adygeya for tourism and resorts Vladimir Petrov said.
The project of establishing a network of ski resorts in the North Caucasian Federal District, Adygeya and Krasnodar Territory is set to cost 451 billion rubles. The project was presented to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the 14th international forum in St. Petersburg in June 2010 by the authorized presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, Alexander Khloponin.
The resorts are located in 5 villages: Lago-Naki (Adygeya), Arkhyz (Karachay-Cherkessia), Elbrus mountain (Kabardino-Balkaria), Mamison (North Ossetia) and Matlas (Dagestan). The resorts will cover from 150 to 800 sq km with over 1000 km of skiing slopes, equipped with 22 ski-lifts. Participants in the project will have preferences and tax benefits, ITAR-TASS reports.
