The Center for Modern Caucasus Policy (Kavkaz Center) supported by the Russian Presidential Administration, will be formed by expert clubs of the North Caucasian Federal District to study and make forecasts of developments in the region, meet in Pyatigorsk to present the results of their research, Izvestia cites Andrey Osinnikov, director of the new center.
The structure was registered at the Justice Ministry in late June.
Osinnikov noted that there was a lack of skilled experts for the region, despite high demand for studies of the local processes. The Kavkaz Center will monitor Russian and foreign media, especially resources in English, French, Arabic, Turkish and Chinese.
Experts will be chosen basing on their theoretic knowledge, practical experience, skill, reputation. Some of the experts that may join the center are Alan Bagiyev, head of the department for interior affairs of the North Ossetian government, Vladimir Degoyev, director of the Center for Problems of Caucasus and Regional Security, Professor Sergey Khaykin of the Higher Economic School and co-founder of the All-Russian People’s Front Vladimir Mamontov.
