Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said yesterday evening that possessing nuclear weapons did not guarantee security for any state, ITAR-TASS reports.
He emphasized that Iran was ready for intensive cooperation with six mediators (permanent members of the UNSC and Germany) and the IAEA to discuss all aspects of the nuclear program.
Zarif noted that the nuclear program had no military nature and reminded that all countries had the right for peaceful nuclear energy. He recalled that Iran had suffered from toxic attacks and was opposed to any weapons of mass destruction. The minister expressed confidence that the Syrian government had nothing to do with chemical attacks at Damascus and were used as an excuse by Western states to intervene.
