Lack of border will not hinder Armenia’s becoming member of Customs Union

Sergey Glazyev, Russian presidential assistant, told Ekho Moskvy that lack of common border will not be an obstacle for Armenia to become  member of the Customs Union.

He reminded about the Kaliningrad Region that lacked the border as well. The official pointed out that the association agreement of Armenia and the EU was identical to the one planned for signing with Ukraine and believes that such agreements are imposed.

Commenting on talks with Ukraine and Armenia about integration, he said that members of the Customs Union plan to form the Eurasian Economic Union in 2015.

Glazyev reminded that Kyrgyzstan was willing to join the processes too. He explained that a road map was being formed in order for them it to join. Tajikistan is a member of the EurAsEC and has the right to join the Customs Union. The presidential assistant added that Ukraine will not be able to take part in Eurasian integration if it signs an association agreement with the EU.
