Dzasokhov : Azerbaijan has preserved the continuity of generations in politics

The elections in Azerbaijan have several differences in one election to the rest of the former Soviet Union, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Alexander Dzasokhov said in an interview with VK.

First, he says, "the technical intelligentsia for decades composed an important part of the population in the country and especially in the capital city. These are professionals associated with petrochemical, oil and gas exploration. Therefore, the electorate here has a more solid training and the capital itself has a reputation as an international city. These traditions are not drowned out, they still live in generations, especially the older generation," he stressed.

The second distinction is the national identity of Azerbaijanis - conscientious behavior. "There is no deliberately aggressive behavior. Even if there is a variety of thought, it does not turn into a long standoff , although, of course, at the turn of the 90's Azerbaijan experienced it. And it was kind of, you could say, like tornadoes, an anarchy that almost stopped the development of Azerbaijan, but it so happened that continuity between generations of responsible politicians was kept," Dzasohov said.

"Of course, the Aliyevs are father and son. But there are times that a son  cannot maintain the same level. But in this case, modernization of the state continued. This also distinguished Azerbaijan. Russia, and I personally, as a politician, very much hope that the new political cycle will give us an opportunity to deepen our cooperation in the field of solving  Caucasian problems," he said.

"We must strive to ensure that conflicts just give rise to a desire to find agreements in difficult discussions, but all the same in the interests of the Greater Caucasus. The geopolitical reality is fundamentally different. Now, along with the Caucasus states, the so-called "Caucasian Four", we have to consider that there are two new independent states - the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. All following major initiatives should be taken with consideration of this geopolitical reality," the deputy chairman of the Russian Commission for UNESCO said.

" Another feature of Azerbaijan that I particularly appreciate is the deep religious and spiritual tradition. But still there is an understanding that religion is one thing, Sharia law and so on, but the other thing is a modern state with its ideas about society, nationhood, identity," Dzasokhov concluded his speech .
