Constitutional amendments, according to which the country's prime minister will be deprived of some rights, came into force in Georgia today. The amendments were adopted by parliament on October 4 and approved by President Mikheil Saakashvili on October 10.
According to the new regulations, the prime minister will no longer be able to initiate a vote of no confidence in the cabinet in the country's parliament, if lawmakers reject a government-sponsored bill.
