Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Moscow yesterday. Netanyahu said that both states wanted to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He emphasized that Israel demanded Iran stop uranium enrichment, scrap its centrifuges and shut down the Arak reactor. The Israeli PM said that he wanted to solve the problem peacefully and free Iran from nuclear weapons the way Russia had freed Israel from chemical weapons.
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman hopes that France and Russia will make the deal Iran signs in Geneva more favorable. At the same time, relations between Israel, US and the UK are aggravating. France will most likely betray Israel the way it did in 1967, an analyst in Tel Aviv believes.
Negotiators demand Iran stop enriching uranium to over 20% and limit enrichment of over-3.5% uranium, move highly-enriched uranium out of the country, stop construction of the Arak reactor and give access to IAEA inspectors. In exchange, sanctions against Iran will be partly lifted, billions of dollars of accounts unfrozen.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that existence of Israel was illegal and it was destined to be destroyed.
