North Ossetia, just as Dagestan and Ingushetia this summer, will have the president elected by the local parliament. Gennady Rodionov, head of the parliamentary committee for legislature, legality and local autonomy, clarified that the idea of parliamentary vote belongs to the United Russia Party. The vote system was changed for preservation of socio-economic development rates, enforcement of national and inter-religious peace.
The Communist Party, A Fair Russia Party and Patriots of Russia approved the new vote system in North Ossetia.
Alan Kasayev, deputy head of the subdepartment for journalism mastery of the MSLU, said that the decision was made according to the federal law and preliminary decisions of committees of the North Ossetian parliament. He named such reasons for parliamentary vote for the president as lack of serious opposition in North Ossetia, indifference of the public, voluntary transfer of political initiative to the federal center.
Kasayev said that the Russian president will select three candidates for the parliament to choose from. He predicts off-year elections in 2014. The president of North Ossetia may be replaced with an acting president in 1-2 months for the elections, the expert believes.
