Russian President Vladimir Putin will bring his annual message to the Federal Assembly tomorrow, marking the 20th anniversary of the Constitution. He will round up 2013 and name goals of the upcoming year.
Oleg Matveychev, a professor of the Higher School of Economics, noted that some topics will coincide with the ones discussed at the congress of the All-Russian People’s Front: self-governance, housing and utilities. He predicts that Putin will mention interethnic relations and will put more focus on foreign affairs.
Alexey Mukhin, Director of the Center for Political Information, said that the main topics will be violations by executives, authority of municipal structures and autonomies, foreign affairs and Russia’s role in the world. The expert predicts that Putin will speak in a conservative mood.
Maksim Shevchenko, a member of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations, named such essential topics the Putin will speak about as ethnic policy, human rights, interests of Russia in the CIS, analysis of world crisis and situation around Russia in the context of the Middle East and other states. He hopes that the president will also talk about the devaluation of the ruble and the readiness of economy for the recession.
Vladimir Zharikhin, Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS States, expressed confidence that Putin will focus on economy, most importantly survival in global recession, minimization of losses.
