Fake registry of residency to be punished with 3 years of jail in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill to punish owners of housing for fake registry of residents. The punishment may consist of a fine of 100,000-500,000 rubles, compulsory work or jail time of up to 3 years, RIA Novosti reports.The fine for unregistered residency will total 2,000-3,000 for individuals, 2,000-5,000 for owners of housing, 250,000-750,000 for legal bodies. The same fines in Moscow and Saint Petersburg will total 3,000-5,000 rubles, 5,000-7,000 rubles and 300,000-800,000 rubles respectively.Over 6,400 addresses with about 300,000 "illegals" registered in them were discovered by the police in 2011.
