Analyst Kasayev explains Volgograd blasts

Alan Kasayev, Head of the department for top journalism mastery of the MSLU, said that the blasts in Volgograd had 3 reasons: the city is a symbol of victory over foreign aggressors, it is situated on the crossing of paths (from North Caucasus to the center of Russia and then to Siberia), it may have been the work of an organized terrorist group.

The city is elongated along the Volga River, so it is easy to escape the scene of crime. Volgograd may have a terrorist group operating in it, whose members are well-aware of the area and methods the police use for searches, the expert supposes.

Kasayev warned against hasty conclusions about the source of terrorist threat. He has no confidence that organizers of the blasts were necessarily from the North Caucasus.
