Israel has offered to pay $20 million as a compensation for the 2010 Freedom Flotilla incident, in exchange for closing the criminal case against the military involved in the raid, Haaretz reports.
Negotiations of the incident were renewed in December 2013. The initial compensation offered totaled $15 million. The $20 million offer may further be increased by $3 million.
Israel attacked the Freedom Flotilla in the morning of May 31, 2010. Six ships of the flotilla headed by Mavi Marmara carried 10 tons of humanitarian aid and over 700 crew members to Gaza, a sector blocked since mid-2007. Seven Turks were killed in the attack.
